Angie in 'Gaslight' (1944)

synopsis: (from IMDB) Years after her aunt was murdered in her home, a young woman moves back into the house with her new husband. However, he has a secret that he will do anything to protect, even if means driving his wife insane.

Angie made her film debut at the age of 17 in this psychological thriller! starring Ingrid Bergman
Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotten! it was a big hit that year and was nominated for Seven Oscars
including Best Supporting Actress for Angie!

as the saucy maid servant Nancy! Angie stands out among her heavyweight co-stars
her sullen looks are pitch perfect! and you love to hate her! Director George Cukor praised her
saying he never saw anyone take to a camera as quickly as she did! critics at the time even
referred to her as a 'New Bette Davis'! this performance jump started her movie career
and proved right from the get go that this was an actress mature beyond her 17 years!
Critic Louella Parsons stated that she gave 'a performance worthy of a trouper twice her age'
the film itself is worth a watch! a wonderful atmospheric thriller
with an Oscar Winning performance by Ingrid Bergman
and a sinister Oscar Nominated turn by Charles Boyer! the cinematography
is stunning, direction spot on! so many things to recommend here!
a true classic! that may not hold up as great as others! but continues
to pack a punch and make an impact today!
a stunning debut for any actress!
